The problems associated with stuttering
Some people, who have never had any problems with their speech, may think that to have a stutter would not be such a big deal. I have in fact heard certain people make comments such as "So he trips up on the odd word in ten, so what, there are many conditions out there worse than his".
Now in any way this person is correct, but in my opinion only a person who has or has had, a stutter can really understand the distress that this form of speech impediment can cause.
I had a stutter for eighteen years before finally managing to eradicate the problem when I was in my early twenties. In the next few paragraphs I am going to write about a few of the awkward positions the stutter put me in.
When looking for a chosen career I did not just have to think about what I wanted to do, I had to think about what type of work I could do, having a stutter eliminates many of the potential options.
When attending a social event, I always had to think before going out and would often ask myself a question, " Is it really worth going out tonight or will the fact that I have a stutter make it turn into a bit of a disaster?".
Attempting to find love and dating was made all the more difficult because of the stutter. Will this potential future partner really want to date somebody who has a stuttering problem?
As I have hopefully explained having a stutter can make life quite hard.
Steve has produced a 70 minute DVD on which he describes the techniques and approaches taught on his popular 1 to 1 Speech Courses.
He explains in great detail how to implement them and make them a natural part of that person’s speech.
