Severe stutter
Stuttering can, if you let it, take over and ruin your life. I had a stutter for eighteen years and found the whole situation to be one huge frustration.
In another way the stutter did actually quite intrigue me. I found it bizarre how at times I could talk quite well, where at other times the stutter would become quite severe.
It would become severe when I was required to talk to people in any kind of authority. This would include senior members of the company where I worked, including of course my boss, the police, a teacher at school and even my parents.
The stutter would also seemingly become worse when meeting new people. I will never forget meeting my ex-girlfriends parents for the first time. How nervous was I?
A massive amount is the answer to that question. I could hardly speak a word to them, what must they have thought of me? They just kept asking me question after question, I was thinking, just leave me alone, is it not obvious that I am struggling to speak?
I also found it extremely difficult to introduce myself to other people. As an example, when I was aged about twenty-one I attended a course for work. The lecturer asked everybody on the course to stand up and to introduce themselves.
This was one of my worst nightmares and my speech on that day, in that situation, was very bad to say the least.
Steve has produced a 70 minute DVD on which he describes the techniques and approaches taught on his popular 1 to 1 Speech Courses.
He explains in great detail how to implement them and make them a natural part of that person’s speech.
