The main symptom of generalized anxiety disorder or GAD is chronic, excessive anxiety or worry. The worrying may be about any number of everyday aspects of a person's life, from family to health to money, but the anxiety tends to be exaggerated or excessive.
Along with the chronic worrying, generalized anxiety disorder symptoms also may include a variety of emotional and physical symptoms, including (but not necessarily limited to) the following:
Headaches
Trembling, twitching
Lightheadedness
Difficulty concentrating
Nausea
Difficulty breathing
Sweating, hot flashes
Change in appetite
Frequent need to use bathroom
Easily startled
Lump in throat, difficulty swallowing
Sleeplessness
Restlessness
Muscle tension
Fatigue
If you're concerned that you are having generalized anxiety disorder symptoms, talk to your doctor.
You'll want to rule out any other causes for your symptoms as well as discuss an appropriate treatment plan, if necessary.
thanks,
sam.
