Now..dont laugh...but I am 23 and deadly afraid of thunder storms and strong winds. I haven't overcome the fear but learnt how to get past the pannick atatcks. I curl up with my head under the sheets and sing "itsy bitsy spider" about 5 times and do the hand actions at the same time. Then I sing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" untill Ive finished and it all has to be out aloud...even if u whisper it so as your partner or kids dont think you're totally mad. Bythe end your oxygen intake would have stabilised because you are singing and thus filling your lungs with air...you will feel calmer because after getting from 99 to 1 in the bottle song takes time and concentration as to not foeget what number you are up to.
