Waterbed Phobias
Many people around the world have heard about the wonderful
benefits of sleeping on waterbeds.
Just as many people however, still have doubts
about whether a waterbed is a good choice for them
individually. There are many phobias that are associated
with owning and sleeping on a waterbed.
One waterbed phobia that many parents have is the fear of a
child, particularly an infant, drowning if a leak begins. There
are millions of parents in the world who simply do not trust
laying an infant on a waterbed.
If you are afraid of such a tragedy, then a waterbed or
wasserbett may
not be a good choice while your children are in the infant
stages. Another possibly solution to this fear is to simply not
allow your small children to lie on or play on your waterbed
and always check the mattress periodically for even small
leaks.
Another phobia that is often associated with waterbeds like
wasserbetten is the
fear of the bed crashing through the floor. Many people have
stated that they have a fear of falling through floor of their
homes while asleep. The best way to overcome this fear is to
check, or have a contractor check, your home’s foundation to
ensure that it will in fact, support the weight of a waterbed
mattress.
Although waterbeds are much heavier than many traditional or
convention beds, they are seldom found to be too heavy for a
home’s foundation to fully support. If you live in an apartment
or an older home, you can have the foundation and floor checked
to ensure that you can safely sleep on your waterbed without
the fears of crashing into the room below you.
This brings us to the number on waterbed phobia. Most people
who are apprehensive of purchasing a waterbed are simply afraid
of the potential leaks that may be found. Leaking is of course
possible, but if you take good care of your waterbed and ensure
that you check it periodically, you should be able to put your
fear of leaks to rest.
Of course, you would want to ensure that pets with sharp
claws are kept off the bed and always be careful of what and
how you place things on your bed. Leaks are not uncommon, but
they are typically very easily repaired.
One thing to keep in mind that can put your waterbed phobias
to rest for good is to always maintain your waterbed to the
manufacturer’s instructions.
For instance, periodic leak checking and maintaining the
correct temperature in heated waterbed mattresses is vitally
important to ensure that no dangerous or potentially costly
damages are done.
If you are ready for a waterbed and simply have a fear of
becoming seasick, then rest assured that you can dictate the
motion of your waterbed mattress and fit it to your exact likes
and preferences.
