How
to Eradicate Your Phobias
I am sure that we all have
some form of phobia, I know I do. Well I say I do when in
fact I should be saying I had. This is because I have worked
hard at eradicating the phobia from my life. My philosophy
has always been to go for gold, silver is just not good
enough.
As you can see I do not accept second best and therefore do not
accept any form of phobia from disrupting my life. So how did I
combat my fears and phobias? Please continue reading to find
out.
I basically had a phobia of
speaking! It was not your everyday talking, more to do with
speaking within a large group of people. This phobia possibly
came about due to the fact that I had a stutter which had
developed in childhood.
The phobia really started to
take a hold of my life when I was in my early twenties. There
were voices in my head advising me not to socialise with my
friends and to basically stay at home where I would be safe.
They wanted me to live like a
hermit.
I have to admit that for a
while I did let these demons get the better of me, I then
decided that enough was enough and that it was time to fight
back.
I started to work hard on
attempting to find a cure for stuttering and this involved
trying to deal with my overall anxieties. When searching for
information I read that complementary
therapy could be of help. How could any form of
alternative treatment help, I thought to
myself?
Well the answer basically
lies from the fact that you are enabling your body some
relaxation time, a reward instead of the constant worrying
that I would normally inflict on
it.
I decided to attend a
reflexology treatment and was quite amazed at the results,
they were superb. I am still attending different forms of
complementary therapy today including aromatherapy and
acupuncture.
I am also pleased to report
that I have now been fluent for the last twelve years and now
run a speech centre called The How to Stop Stuttering Centre
in Birmingham, UK.
